Cleaning up at Celsious

Cleaning up at Celsious

I visited the super cool Celsious whilst in Brooklyn last week and was given a tour by the lovely cofounder Corinna Willaims.  Celsious is a modern laundry. For those of you that don’t know, most apartment buildings in NY don’t have laundry facilities and so everyone must spend hours per week at their local laundromat. Most are dingy and a bit dirty and every time I see one I think of that episode of Friends.. Anyway, Celsious is different. Firstly, it is beautiful. It is off a leafy street in Williamsburg, the whole colour palette has been so well chosen; the pastel orange, pinks, greys and off white are perfect.  Celsious is owned by sisters Corinna and Theresa, who are Munich raised and Brooklyn based. Their combined experience in fashion and design, their love of the environment and their obsession with all things clean drove them to open the most energy efficient and stylish laundromat in NYC. The Electrolux machines are the most eco focused washing and drying equipment available on the market. They use 30-40% less water and the spin is 4x faster leaving the drying process super quick. You get free washing detergent from The Simply Co. with each wash that contains only 3 natural ingredients in a recyclable glass jar. Moving up the yellow reclaimed MTA tiled staircase is a gorgeous cafe serving organic coffee and locally made pastries to relax or work in whilst you wait on your laundry downstairs. This gorgeous place actually makes you want to do your laundry.
